The group LaTimbistica won Downbeat's Student Music Award for Best College Group this year! I am very proud to be a part of the group, which is led by a great friend of mine and a great musician, Paulo Stagnaro.

I am thrilled and honored that I am now the pianist with nine-time Grammy-award-winner Paquito D'Rivera! We will be performing all over the country and internationally as well.

I'm very excited to announce that I won for best Jazz Soloist in this year's Downbeat Magazine Student Music Awards! You can see all of the winners in the June 2007 issue.

Alex's second CD as a leader, "Montrose Towing," has been released. The CD features John Britton on trumpet, Will R. Anderson on alto sax, Peter R. Anderson on tenor sax, Alex Hoffman on tenor sax, Joe McDonough on trombone, Pepe Gonzalez on bass, and Allison Miller on drums.

Alex Brown has garnered an "Outstanding Award" from Downbeat Magazine for his arrangement of the traditional Jewish song, "Kol Han'shama." This Afro-Cuban Jazz adaptation can be heard on his CD, "Montrose Towing."
